The general rules for crane selection are as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Establish the maximum radius from the centre of slew<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Calculate the total weight of the load*<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Check clearance height under ceiling (if any) an issue.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Allow for distance from jib head to the hook.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Allow for the hook height required with associated lifting equipment.<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. Allow for the height of obstructions between crane and load.<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. Allow for obstructions which may hinder the counterweight when slewing.<\/span><\/li>\n
  8. Allow for obstructions the crane may need to work around when setting up.<\/span><\/li>\n
  9. Consider what Boom length will be required.<\/span><\/li>\n
  10. Ensure the ground can support the crane.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Allow for how the crane will access and leave the site<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    * The total weight of load is obtained by adding:<\/span><\/p>\n

    actual load weight + crane hook block + slings, spreaders, shackles + any other lifting attachment.
